On our trip we spent a couple of days in the Green House near Kampot.
I was spending most of my days with Martin from England as he is an early bird, too. At 6.30am sharp we headed out on our motorbikes to explore the surroundings. After a nice breakfast (duck eggs sunny side up with baguette) we headed to a Muslim fishermen’s village before driving to Kep.
On the next day Martin and I went to the Old Casino, a hotel formerly used by rich Khmer and French people. During the bloody takeover of the Khmer Rouge in the 70s the place was destroyed and you can still see bullet holes in the walls as a result of heavy fighting. These days the so called Old Casino is being renovated as part of a huge building project in the middle of Bokor national park(!)… No comment…
Around Kampot are several caves you can explore and climb into. It’s definitely worth it!
We finished our motorbike trip with a visit to a Buddhist temple and the salt fields in the south.
After some drinks in the Utopia guest house and a nice chat with the owner, Max, we headed back to Green House for a live concert that took place that evening. Hereby I want to thank Dave and Richy, the owners of Green House, who made our stay in Kampot a wonderful experience.
Hey,
These are some amazing photos of Kampot! I especially love the ones of the guy climbing, the salt worker, the boat on Kampot river and the salt workers. They are all beautiful thought. Did you tag them so that they are ‘findable’ online? I noticed their titles are numeric.. it would be a shame if someone searching for Kampot would not be able to find your gorgeous photos.
:-)
Thank you Rux! I tagged the whole post but not every individual image – it’s just to much work. So… I don’t know if they appear on Google’s image search actually… :-/
